Having cervical insufficiency is a horrible diagnosis. Not
knowing the root of the problem and the reason it is occurring is a frustrating
experience. I felt as though my body failed my children, and opened them up to
pain and discomfort prematurely. I appreciate the involvement I have in the
foundation, because it brings healing and purpose to my life. I am a nurse; I
love to help others, and I am rewarded greatly in my career. However, it gives
me great pleasure to assist women and families that have endured a similar
journey as mine. It is my calling. In addition, when you move outside of
yourself, then God meets you where you are.
After losing my son (May 2012), my dreams of having a family were crushed.
Just when my hope and faith were lost in grief and sorrow, God sent two
wonderful doctors to help Frank and me. My high risk OB (who I love), organized
a procedure to put an end to my cervical problems. Six weeks after my loss, I
received a trans-abdominal cerclage, by a physician that is known all over the
world for his wonderful work. He has placed cerclages in women from Africa,
Europe, India, Turks and Cacaos, and all over the US. He was a God sent and
treated me with the best care.
This surgery is performed by inserting a suture or band around
the the cervix. The incision he made is like that of a c-section, in the bikini
area. Because of the cerclage, the cervix can never dilate, and I must have
scheduled c-sections for every pregnancy. He said I could now have quadruplets
and my cervix never budge….
My pre and post op experience was great….the best part was my
morphine drip!!
This procedure has helped many women in my situation,
and I am looking forward to trying out my “new cervix”!!! I
am encouraged and prayerful to one day bring home a full term child to raise and
nurture under God’s grace and glory! You do not know why God does certain things
and brings much heartache. Nevertheless, know his love and grace is always
abounding, and His promises are ever true.
I am looking forward to having the foundations first fundraising
event in the near future! Your support is greatly appreciated as we pursue our
endeavors!
