Hello all! Hard to believe summer is almost over. I need another month of summer! How about you? I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and they have Christmas Trees and ornaments out already! The Halloween stores are popping up everywhere!
Everything seems so rushed… we want to rush through the days, the weeks, and even the years. Everyone seems to be in rush, a rush to get here or there. Zachary even keeps telling people he is 8 ¾. He cannot wait until he turns 9!
I began to think about life, the natural seasons, and the seasons of our life. The natural seasons are cyclical and so are the seasons of life. The cold winter seasons we want to time to go faster. We question when will this winter be over? I am so cold, the days are short, the nights are so long and dark. I am just miserable! It is hard to find the beauty in the winter season. Everything seems so lifeless and gloomy. It is easier to enjoy the warmth of a summer day, a cool breeze or even a shady tree.
Who can find beauty in winter (spiritually or naturally)? According to Ecclesiastes 3:1
To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:
Seemingly difficult at times, the off seasons have their own beauty, but we are distracted by their discomforts. My sister Lauri and I would take winter walks in the mornings. It was freezing!! But there was so much to beauty to see, the ice sculptures on the branches of trees, the deer grazing in the fields, and the quietness of the forest. The crispness of the cold air, was so refreshing.
Do not rush the season you are in. Brush away the distractions of life and take the time to find the beauty in each situation.
